Assistant Professor of Music (Trombone)
The Сòòò½APP Department of Music invites applications for a full-time (nine-month), tenure-track Assistant Professor of Music in Trombone, starting August 15, 2025.
Qualifications: Earned terminal degree required in trombone performance or equivalent
field. ABDs near the completion of their degree program will be considered, but an
earned D.M.A. or D.M. in trombone performance or an equivalent field is required at
the time of the appointment. Candidates should show potential to successfully teach
and recruit applied trombone students at the collegiate level and have significant
performance experience at the regional and national levels. Candidates should be actively
involved in trombone-related organizations and maintain an active schedule of performances
and scholarly activities.
Responsibilities: Instruct the Сòòò½APP trombone studio (undergraduate
majors and minors and graduate students), including studio classes, trombone ensembles,
and other aspects of studio instruction. Perform in the faculty brass chamber ensemble.
Recruit talented students on trombone at the undergraduate and graduate levels to
help staff all Department of Music ensembles and the USA Jaguar Marching Band. Contribution
to the scholarly advancement of the field through research and/or creative activities
is encouraged. Additional teaching duties may be assigned in areas of the successful
candidate’s strengths, such as music theory, music literature, or other areas. Serve
on departmental, college, and university committees as assigned.
