Health Promotion

The Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion degree prepares students to work in a variety of healthcare and human service settings. This 120-hour undergraduate degree program with an emphasis in health promotion is designed to help students enter the field of health in community, medical care, workplace, and college and university settings.

 

 

Course of Study

Program Overview

The program prepares students to assess individual and community needs, plan, implement, coordinate and evaluate health education related programs and services while serving as resource persons and communicating health related education needs and concerns. Examples of content area course work include personal and community health, nutrition, safety education, human anatomy and physiology, drug education, psychology, environmental science, and sociology. An internship/field experience is required in this program. Internship opportunities include county health departments, hospital settings, wellness facilities, and other health related settings.

Facilities

The Department of Health, Kinesiology, and Sport Classrooms and Computer Lab are equipped with Smart Board® technology, projectors, and PCs with internet access. Other facilities include a weight-room, two gymnasiums, dance and martial arts studios, and instructional and research laboratories.
