USA News launches on revamped website; University community encouraged to submit story ideas
Posted on August 15, 2014
The 小蝌蚪APP debuts its USA News page.
USA News features stories that reflect the achievements of USA students, faculty and staff; current events on campus; and the impact of the USA community. The site focuses on stories of interest to both internal and external audiences, features video and photo galleries and ties into social media platforms.
A Quick Tour of the New Site
The top five stories on the site will mirror the stories on USA鈥檚 homepage. The first of those will be the Spotlight story on the homepage. Think of this story as the feature story of a magazine. It is a spot reserved for stories that are of particular importance and have an extended 鈥渟helf life.鈥
Below that are four other feature stories that will rotate off the page more frequently, followed by several other news items of interest. All stories can be accessed from the archive after they move off the USA News page, and the archive can be searched using the search bar along the bottom right side of the page.
USA News marks a shift away from the traditional news releases posted on the previous
USA website. One immediate and central difference is the ability to easily share stories,
either via email or through social media platforms, by tapping the share icons at
the top of each story. We encourage you to share stories that you like or think best
illustrate USA鈥檚 commitment to the Gulf Coast region.
Readers can access USA鈥檚 Facebook site using the link at the bottom of the page, or
by going to . Stories from the USA News site will be posted to the Facebook site, along with other
features.
Health care and hospital news still can be found at . You also can view news releases specific to the USA College of Medicine, , , , and the .
This is a dynamic site that depends on the engagement of USA students, faculty, staff and alumni. Please let us know what stories you think should be featured on the USA News site. Use the "Pitch Your Story" link at the bottom of the page to share your story idea.
Also, feel free to send us suggestions for the site or feedback on how we鈥檙e doing to pubrel@southalabama.edu.
