"Roaring Through the Decades:" It’s USA Homecoming 2017

Students, alumni, faculty, staff, and the community can celebrate and enjoy the traditions
and all things homecoming at the СAPP with the theme, “54 Years…Roaring
Through the Decades,” Oct. 15-21.
The homecoming activities will include a host of events, athletic and alumni activities,
along with Fun Fest, the parade and pep rally, and a comedy show at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday,
Oct. 19, at the Mitchell Center featuring Marlon Wayans and Jay Pharaoh. The comedy
show tickets are on sale at www.southalabama.edu/mitchellcenter. Wayans, an actor, producer and comedian stars on the NBC sitcom “Marlon,” and Pharoah,
an actor was a cast member on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.”
On Monday, Oct. 16, the traditional “Junk the Jungle” for South students only will
kick off the homecoming festivities from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. in the traffic circle. This
event is sponsored by the Student Government Association, and the maintenance department.
The homecoming bonfire and outdoor movie, “Wonder Woman,” will follow at 7:30 p.m.
at the Intramural Fields.
On Tuesday the 17th, the Battle of the DJs will be held with doors opening at 5:30
p.m. and the event starting at 6 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom. Admission is
$5 at the door. This event is sponsored by Collegiate 100, Women of Excellence and
the Student Government Association.
Wednesday, South students, faculty and staff will wear their Jag wear and come out
and take photos with SouthPaw and Miss Pawla during Pawparrazi from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
at the Student Center Mall. South homecoming events continue with Fun Fest from 6-9
p.m. in the Student Center.
Thursday, Oct. 19, will feature the Golden Jaguar Alumni Dinner, by invitation only,
starting at 6 p.m. in the Student Center. The first South graduating class will be
honored.
On Friday, Oct. 20, the annual Coach Joey Jones Luncheon will be held at noon at the
USA Football Field House. Alumni and friends are invited to join the South Alabama
National Alumni Association for this event. The lunch is sponsored by Alabama Power.
The Alumni Lawn Party will follow from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. on the lawn of Alumni Hall. Alumni,
friends and faculty are invited.
Later that evening, the annual homecoming parade featuring the Jaguar Marching Band
begins on USA South Drive at 6 p.m. The Class of 1967, The Golden Jaguars will serve
as grand marshals. The pep rally will follow the parade at 6:30 p.m. on the Mitchell
Center North Plaza. After the pep rally, the “Greek TV” NPHC Homecoming Step Show
will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Mitchell Center. Advance tickets can be purchased
at the Mitchell Center Box Office or at www.southalabama.edu/mitchellcenter.
Homecoming day on Saturday, Oct. 21, will feature the Jaguar football team against
Louisiana-Monroe with the game time to be announced. The game will be played at Ladd-Peebles
Stadium. Stadium gates open at 8 a.m. The Jaguar Prowl will occur two hours and 20
minutes before the kickoff game time. The presentation of the South homecoming court
will be held at halftime.
