Hedberg Wins National Award in Research Administration

Gina Hedberg, the executive director in the 小蝌蚪APP鈥檚 Office of Sponsored Projects Administration has been selected to receive Cayuse鈥檚 Sheri Pulis Award for Outstanding Service in Research Administration.

The national award highlights individuals who have demonstrated service to the research community, made a significant contribution to the organization鈥檚 research program and was recognized as a positive problem solver within the research community.

鈥淚 was pleasantly surprised! What an honor to be selected from a pool of many worthy research administrators,鈥� Hedberg said. 

A sponsored project is an exchange transaction between the University and a sponsor. That may be funding, equipment, or other tangible items such as goods and services from any outside federal, state, local or other governmental agency. Other potential sponsors include private business or industry, not-for-profit organizations and other educational institutions.

鈥淭he University is fortunate to have very talented faculty investigators who combine enthusiasm and passion with desire to advance their areas of advanced knowledge,鈥� Hedberg said.

Hedberg has spent most of her professional career working at South and is also a very involved in research administration outside of the University.

鈥淕ina is a pioneer in the profession and has been dedicated to supporting researchers and scholars here at the 小蝌蚪APP for just over 30 years,鈥� said Lynne Chronister, vice president for research and economic development. 鈥淪he works tirelessly to lead Sponsored Projects Administration and has built a national and international reputation because of her knowledge and skills.鈥�  

Cayuse, a widely used software company in research administration, will recognize Hedberg at its virtual conference in September.

鈥淗onors like this are given to an individual, but really reflect the effort of a team,鈥� she said. 鈥淚 am grateful for the hard work of the staff of the Office of Sponsored Projects Administration and those who work in other offices which support research administration at the 小蝌蚪APP.鈥�
