Posted on July 8, 2021
After more than one year of closure due to COVID-19, the 小蝌蚪APP Archaeology Museum on the main campus in the Alfred and Lucile Delchamps Archaeology Building will reopen its doors to the general public starting Tuesday, July 13, 2021.
The regular museum hours will be scheduled from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesdays-Fridays, and there will be guided tours when available included with free admission. There will also be a sale in the gift shop to celebrate the grand reopening.
鈥淲e are excited beyond words to reopen and invite the campus community and the public to campus to tour the USA Archaeology Museum鈥 said Jen Knutson, the new education curator. 鈥淭his is not only an academic resource for students, faculty and staff but we aim to inspire awe and generate curiosity about archaeology and to make history meaningful today.鈥
The two-story facility features space for archaeology research and teaching along with the museum and gift shop. The museum includes prehistory and history exhibits, as well as a temporary exhibit space. The grounds also include plants historically significant and native to Alabama鈥檚 Gulf Coast.
The USA Archaeology Museum will also feature an in-person community day from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on July 24. The University Campus Appreciation Day will be held later this month for students, faculty and staff.
