USA Students Elect 2022-23 SGA Officers

The Student Government Association executive board at the 小蝌蚪APP has been elected for the 2022-2023 academic year.
Camille Bonura, a junior hospitality and tourism management major, will serve as SGA president. Some of her key focuses from her platform will be partnering with local restaurants to provide discounts and strengthening the connection between the Mobile business community and South Alabama. She also wants to advocate an open office hour for students to meet with President Jo Bonner and host more events with the USA Police Department.
Olivia Martin, a junior majoring in history, was elected vice president; Allison Reed, a junior majoring in criminal justice, was elected to treasurer; Maiben Mitchell, a sophomore majoring in criminal justice and political science, will serve as chief justice; Amya Douglas, a sophomore majoring in digital cinema and television, will serve as attorney general; and Ansley Majewski, a junior majoring in recreational therapy, will serve as a student-at-large.
As president, Bonura is looking forward to focusing on the needs of South Alabama students.
鈥淢y vision as SGA president is always putting each and every student first,鈥 Bonura said. 鈥淏efore I began campaigning, I was building my platform, and each point I want to achieve as president is centered around putting the students first. The students are the heartbeat of this university, and they are where my main focus will be over the next year.鈥
- Bonura, 20, is a native of Enterprise, Alabama, and is a graduate of Enterprise High School. At USA, she is active on campus as a member of Phi Mu Sorority, the Student Government Association, the Hospitality Club, the Mortar Board Honor Society and the Eta Sigma Delta Honor Society. She is the daughter of Meredith Mitchell and Ross Bonura.
- Martin, 20, of Dothan, Alabama, is a graduate of Carrol High School. At USA, she is a member of the USA Democrats and the History Society. She was on the Freshman Year Council in 2020-21 and was an SGA senator for the College of Arts and Sciences in 2021-22. She is a Leadership Scholar and on the Dean鈥檚 List and President鈥檚 List. She is the daughter of Kim Martin.
- Reed, 20, of Lilburn, Ga., is a graduate of Parkview High School. At USA, she is a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority, where she serves as music chair for 2022. She is a member of the Honors College Association, where she serves as involvement chair for 2021-22. She is a USA Honors College student and former First Year Council vice president for 2020-21. She is the daughter of James Reed and Carmen Reed.
- Mitchell, 19, of Mobile, is a graduate of Faith Academy. At USA, she is a member of the Student Government Association, First Year Council Director, South Strong Ambassador and Camellia Hall Residential Assistant. She is a member of the Epsilon Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., where she serves as corresponding secretary, and the National Society of Leadership and Success. She is the recipient of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Student Scholarship. She is the daughter of Dr. Merlinda and Dr. Michael Mitchell.
- Douglas, 20, is a native of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, and a graduate of St. Martin High School. At USA, Douglas is a Resident Assistant, Mentor for PASSAGE USA, a South Strong Ambassador, chair of the Student Government Association Governmental Relations Committee, and has been appointed to be a member of the Appropriations Committee. She served as an SGA College of Arts and Sciences senator. She is a Leadership Scholar (2020-21), First Year Council President鈥檚 Award recipient (2020-21), and Black Girls Rock Bronze Award honoree. She is the daughter of Eon and Sharon Douglas.
- Majewski, 21, is a graduate of Pensacola Catholic High School. At USA, she is a Dance Marathon member, PASSAGE USA mentor, a member of Chi Omega Women鈥檚 Fraternity, a member of the Order of Omega Honor Society and a member of the Panhellenic Council and Panhellenic Pi Chi鈥檚. She is involved in Campus Civitan and the Recreation Center Therapy Association. She is the daughter of Stan and Patrice Majewski.
The USA SGA officers protect and advance students鈥 interests as well as promote the welfare of the student body. The organization operates as a constitutional democracy and is comprised of executive, legislative and judicial branches.
