The Student Government Association at the 小蝌蚪APP has announced the election results of the 2023-2024 executive board leadership to include President Amya Douglas, Vice President Olivia Martin, Treasurer Jay Greene, Chief Justice Maiben Mitchell, Attorney General Helen Faragalla, and Student-at-Large Hank Rader. 

鈥淥ne of my biggest goals is to have students not only recognize SGA as a resource but allow SGA to better accommodate them,鈥� Douglas said. 鈥淎s student leaders, our job is to serve our peers, and that is all I can wish to accomplish. My platform goals are divided into three categories: Advocacy, Accessibility and Academics.鈥�

 

2023-2024 South Alabama SGA Leaders:

Amya Douglas, 21, of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, a graduate of St. Martin High School, will serve as president. She is a junior majoring in communication studies. She is a member of the Mortar Board Honor Society, Green Jags, Solidarity Coalition and Reformed University Fellowship and has served as a PASSAGE USA mentor and South Strong Ambassador. She is a Leadership Scholar and a recipient of the First Year Council President's Award 2020-21 and Black Girls Rock: The Bronze Honoree Award 2020-21 and 2022-2023. She is the daughter of Eon and Sharon Douglas. 

Olivia Martin, 21, of Ozark, Alabama, a graduate of Carroll High School, will serve as vice president. She is a senior majoring in history. Martin is a member of the History Society, Mortar Board, Pre-Law Society and Phi Alpha Theta Honor Society. She is a Leadership Scholar and is a recipient of awards including the E. Lewis B. Curtis Certificate of Merit for Outstanding Scholarship, 2022; College of Arts and Sciences Senator of the Year, 2021-2022; the SGA Committee Chairperson of the Year, 2021-2022; and the Minnie Lee Wilkins Stallworth Scholarship, 2023. She is the daughter of Kimberly Martin.

Jay Greene, 20, of Birmingham, a graduate of Briarwood Christian High School, will serve as treasurer. He is a sophomore majoring in . He is a Mitchell College of Business senator and a member of Club 5:05. He is also a recipient of the First Year Council President鈥檚 Award. He is the son of Ben and Ashley Greene. 

Helen Faragalla, 21, of Mobile, a graduate of McGill-Toolen Catholic High School, will serve as attorney general. She is a junior majoring in political science and criminal justice. She has been a member of the First Year Council, a College of Arts and Sciences senator, a PASSAGE USA mentor, a resident hall assistant and a member of the Beta Theta Chapter of Chi Omega. She is the daughter of Atef Faragalla and Lillian Maatouk. 

Maiben Mitchell, 20, of Mobile, a graduate of Faith Academy High School, will serve as chief justice. She is a junior majoring in communication studies. She is a member of Epsilon Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, the Mortar Board Honor Society, Abeneefoo Kuo Honor Society, the National Society of Leadership and Success and the Society for Collegiate Leadership and Achievement. She is a National Association of Student Personnel Administrators Undergraduate Fellow for 2022-2023. She also serves as a One Stop student assistant and a mentor for the Campus to Career Initiative. She is the daughter of Dr. Merlinda and Dr. Michael Mitchell. 

Hank Rader, 19, of Wiggins, Mississippi, a graduate of Stone High School, will serve as a student-at-large. He is a sophomore majoring in . Rader is a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity and the USA Dance Marathon team. He is the son of JoAnn Rader.
