The Institute of International Education and the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok have selected the 小蝌蚪APP as one of 19 U.S. higher education institutions to participate in the International Academic Partnership Program focusing on Thailand. Twenty-nine Thai institutions also will participate with a goal of developing and enhancing international higher education partnerships between the two countries.
Dr. Richard Carter, associate vice president for global engagement, and Dr. Bri Ard, executive director for global engagement, will represent South at the conference.
鈥淚t is important to build a strong, diverse international student population as this provides a more robust international culture on our campus,鈥 Carter said. 鈥淲e live in a global society and community, so it鈥檚 important that all the students who attend our University are exposed to multiple cultures and students from around the world.鈥
Carter added that they hope to expand an awareness about the University within Thailand. 鈥淲e have both the capacity and desire to grow our international student population in this area,鈥 he said.
The selected cohort represents a broad range of higher education institutions in both countries. The U.S. cohort includes community colleges, state colleges and universities, and private institutions from 15 states. The Thai cohort includes a diverse group of institutions focusing on areas such as teaching, agriculture, engineering, and community engagement.
The conference will take place from April 22-26.
