USA Counselor Wins Top Award

鈥淚 have always wanted to help people, and as a counselor, I have found my passion,鈥 said Leslie Weaver-Martin, a 小蝌蚪APP alumna and a licensed professional counselor and national board certified counselor with USA鈥檚 Counseling and Testing Services.
Weaver-Martin is the recipient of the Outstanding Practitioner Award for 2015 and the 2016 Historian for the Alabama Counseling Association. She will assume the historian responsibilities on May. 1. Weaver is completing her last term as president of the state counseling association.
鈥淲e are very proud of Leslie鈥檚 accomplishments,鈥 said Dr. Robert Hanks, director of Counseling and Testing Services. 鈥淥ur department is pleased to announce her outstanding achievements.鈥
Weaver-Martin is active in her professional counseling association and notes that working as a professional counselor is a dream come true.
鈥淚 am honored to represent my University and work to make a difference in the lives of young people who benefit from our services,鈥 she said.
Weaver-Martin spends about 70 percent of her time counseling students. And her additional time is spent doing campus community outreach by developing programs and events promoting positive mental health, which helps students achieve academic success.
Weaver-Martin earned her bachelor鈥檚 degree in education and her master鈥檚 in community counseling from South Alabama.
