Nursing Dean to Chair State Nursing Colleges Association Board

Dr. Heather Hall, dean of the 小蝌蚪APP College of Nursing, has been elected chairperson of the Alabama Association of Colleges of Nursing. Hall will serve a two-year term.
As Hall currently serves as chair-elect, she is developing her vision and goals for her new role that she will fully begin this coming fall.
鈥淚 would like to further advance the quality of nursing education in the state of Alabama and collaborate with the members of the state of Alabama Association of Colleges of Nursing to identify current challenges across the state of Alabama and strategize to resolve any issues,鈥 Hall said. 鈥淚 would also like to ensure that the state of Alabama association will continue to partner with the leaders at the national level of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. We want the state of Alabama to be in alignment with the national goals.鈥
Hall said it鈥檚 important that she is involved as a nursing professional. She wants to build and continue to be a voice at the state and national levels.
鈥淚 am humbly honored that the chief academic officers would select me for this role. I look forward to serving the state and the 小蝌蚪APP,鈥 she noted. 鈥淥ne of my goals is to be more involved in the professional nursing association. I want to make sure that our voice is heard in the profession of nursing so that we are meeting the necessary standards in order to improve the health of the citizens of Alabama.鈥
As chair, Hall will preside at all state association meetings, which are held twice per year. She will prepare the agenda, serve as the official representative for the association, maintain all correspondence, and assist with an orderly transition along with approving all program topics.
According to the American Nurses Association, nurses are the largest and most trusted healthcare professionals. They protect, optimize and promote the health and well-being of their patients by helping to prevent illness and injury. Nurses also advocate, serve as role models and as educators.
USA鈥檚 College of Nursing is one of 12 represented in the state association. The state association is also connected with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, which is the driving force for innovation and excellence in academic nursing.
Hall was named dean of the USA College of Nursing in 2018. She earned her bachelor鈥檚 and master鈥檚 degrees in nursing from USA and her Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
