The 小蝌蚪APP has named Nick Lawkis vice president for governmental relations. He has served as the office鈥檚 executive director since May 2019.

鈥淣ick Lawkis is one of the most respected governmental relations professionals in Alabama,鈥 said USA President Jo Bonner. 鈥淗e has elevated South鈥檚 profile both in Montgomery and Washington D.C. and has earned this promotion with his hard work and dedication to our University.鈥
Under his leadership, Lawkis has led efforts to secure nearly $400 million in funding for the University and USA Health.
鈥淥ur successes have truly been a collaborative effort by many and especially because of our relationships with our elected and government officials,鈥 Lawkis said. 鈥淚 am humbled by the recognition and extremely grateful to President Bonner and Executive Vice President and Provost Dr. Andi Kent for this opportunity, and I look forward to continuing to advance the vision and mission of the Flagship of the Gulf Coast.鈥
Prior to his work in governmental relations, Lawkis served in roles in both USA鈥檚 Office of Student Affairs and Office of Development and Alumni Relations.
Lawkis holds two degrees from South, an undergraduate degree in business administration and a master's in public administration.
He has been named to Mobile Bay magazine鈥檚 40 Under 40 and serves on several internal and external committees and boards.
